A woman has been taken to hospital after falling from her horse near Keele this morning.
The incident occurred in Highway Lane, Keele just before 9.15am.
An ambulance, together with two BASICS doctors and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Tatenhill attended the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Ambulance crews arrived to find a woman had fallen from a horse.
“A patient, believed to be in her fifties, was treated for serious head and pelvic injuries.
“The woman was immobilised with the use of a splint, neck collar and placed on a spinal board. She was also anesthetised by a doctor before being airlifted to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire for further assessment and treatment.
“The hospital was alerted to the serious condition of the patient”.
