Man Airlifted Following Quad Bike Fall

Wednesday 17th July 2013 – 5.25pm – Suzie Fothergill.

A man has been airlifted to hospital following an incident in the Black Country today.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision on Overfield Drive in Coseley, Bilston at approximately 2.15pm today.

An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford were dispatched to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “On arrival at the scene crews found a man lying in the road after reportedly falling from a quad bike.

“The man, believed to be in his 20’s, was treated for a head injury and multiple minor abrasions to his body. Due to the nature of the incident the man was fully immobilised before being airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further assessment and treatment.

“Unfortunately, the man wasn’t wearing any protective clothing or a helmet at the time of the incident. Wearing such clothing can undoubtedly help to minimise injuries should such an incident ever occur.”

  1. I think it’s about time the laws were changed regarding motorcyclists protective clothing, there’s too many on the roads wearing vests and t-shirts in this weather.
