A man has been injured in a road traffic collision in Coventry this afternoon.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the Coventry bound carriageway of the A45 in Allesley at around 12.50pm (Friday). An ambulance, a paramedic area support officer and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance attended the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews arrived to find a car and van which had been involved in a collision. The driver of the car, a man believed to be in his 40s, suffered pain in his neck and back. Due to his condition, the man was carefully extricated from the car with help from the fire service.
“The man was fully immobilised with a neck collar and spinal board by ambulance crews before being taken by land ambulance to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further assessment and treatment.
“The driver of the van, a man, suffered no apparent injuries and was discharged from care at the scene by the air ambulance crew.”
