Pedestrian airlifted from Castle Vale RTC

A man has been airlifted to hospital after being involved in a collision with a car in Birmingham this morning.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the A452 Chester Road near to the Tyburn Island shortly before 8.00am earlier today (Monday). An ambulance, a paramedic area support officer, a responder paramedic and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a MERIT trauma doctor on board attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, had sustained a serious leg injury in the collision.

“Crews and the medic administered pain relief to the man, dressed his nasty wound and fully immobilised him with a neck collar and spinal board. The man was then airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, the regions specialist trauma centre, for further emergency treatment.

“Medics were pre alerted to the arrival of the man who was said to be in a stable condition.”
