Cyclist injured in Ledbury

A cyclist has been taken to hospital following a road traffic collision on the A449 Ledbury Road near Ross on Wye this morning.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the incident at 6am.

An ambulance, a paramedic officer, a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle and the Medical Emergency Response Incident team (MERIT), two BASICS trauma doctors together with the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The ambulance service responded to a collision between a car and cyclist near Ross this morning.

“Crews treated a male, believed to be in his forties, for serious head injuries and an arm injury.

“The patient was immobilised using a neck collar, spinal board. He was anaesthetised by a doctor at the scene before being airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further assessment and treatment.

“The hospital was alerted to the serious condition of the patient.”
