Man Airlifted in A44 Crash

A man has been airlifted to hospital following a road traffic collision on the A44 at Monkland near Hereford this afternoon.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the incident just after 3.30pm.

An ambulance together a paramedic officer, the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham and a trauma doctor from the Mercian Accident Rescue Service (MARS) were sent to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Ambulance crews responded to a collision between a car and car towing a caravan.

“Crews treated a man in his seventies. The patient was treated for a serious head laceration.

“The patient was immobilised with the use of a neck collar and spinal board before being airlifted to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.”
