Mountain Biker Airlifted

A mountain biker injured on a Cannock Chase bike trail has been airlifted to hospital this afternoon.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to an isolated area of the Monkey Trail on Cannock Chase in Staffordshire at just before 2pm. Ambulance staff were assisted by local rangers from the Forestry Commission in locating the patient

An ambulance, together with a Community First Responder and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Tatenhill in Staffordshire attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews responded to an incident in which a man had reportedly fallen from his bike on one of the Chase mountain bike trails.

“A man in his forties was treated by ambulance staff for a pelvic injury. The patient was immobilised with the use of a neck collar and spinal board before being airlifted to Derby Royal Infirmary for further assessment and treatment”
