A motorist has been taken to hospital after his car collided with a tree near Tamworth earlier today.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Planation Lane, Hopwas, near Tamworth at just after 2am.
Two ambulances and a paramedic officer in a rapid response vehicle attended the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews treated a man in his thirties after his vehicle left the road and collided with a tree.
“The vehicle received significant damage and the patient was trapped for over an hour before being released by emergency services.
“The patient was treated for back pain but otherwise he appears to have escaped serious injury.
“The patient was conveyed to Hartlands Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
