A motorist has been injured after his car collided with a tree in Newcastle earlier this afternoon.
West Midlands Ambulance Service received a call to the A53 in Baldwins Gate, near to the Swan With Two Necks public house, at 1.45pm (Thursday).
One ambulance, a paramedic officer, a community first responder and two basics doctors attended the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews treated the car driver, a man in his 70s, after his vehicle left the road, went up an embankment before colliding with a tree.
“The vehicle had to be secured by the fire service before the patient could be safely extricated on a spinal board through the off-side rear door.
“The patient was treated by ambulance crews and the medics for minor arm and hand injuries before being conveyed to University Hospital of North Staffordshire for further assessment and treatment.”
