Child Injured in Cannock

A child has been taken to hospital following a road traffic collision in Cannock this afternoon.

The incident occurred in Chapel Street, Norton Canes just before 3.45pm.

An ambulance, together with a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a young child had been in collision with a car.

“A male, believed to be 5-years old, was treated for serious head, pelvic and leg injuries.

“The patient was anaesthetised by a flight doctor and immobilised with the use of a neck collar and placed on a spinal board before being airlifted to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
