A tree has fallen onto a car in Birmingham injuring two passengers in it, one seriously.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Stoney Lane, Yardley at 2pm today, sending a paramedic area support officer in a rapid response vehicle, two ambulances and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford on board which was a doctor.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “A woman passenger in her seventies was trapped in the car with the tree lying on top of it. The tree was cut away and removed by the fire service. The woman had a chest injury, a broken right leg and was experiencing spinal tenderness. She was given pain relief and oxygen and was immobilised before being taken by land ambulance accompanied by the air ambulance doctor to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
“Another woman passenger from the same car had neck pain and was taken to Heartlands Hospital. The driver was uninjured.
“A branch from the same falling tree also hit another nearby car. There were three people in the vehicle, all of whom were checked over and discharged at the scene.”
