A teenager has been treated for burns after coming into contact with railway wires in Coseley this morning.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Bayer Street shortly before 8.10am and despatched an ambulance, Paramedic Support Officer and Community Paramedic to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews discovered a male teenager who had come into contact with railway wires near to the footbridge over the tracks.

“He was assessed and treated on scene for serious burns to his leg and hand which amounted to approximately ten per cent burns.

“He had his injuries treated and bandaged and was given pain relief.

“Although his injuries appeared superficial, electricity can cause serious injury when travelling through the body so the teenager was conveyed to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
