A pedestrian has died and another seriously injured after they were in collision with a car in Hagley Road, Birmingham yesterday evening. (Saturday)

The incident occurred just before 7.50pm. Three ambulances, together with three paramedic officers, a paramedic in a rapid response car, the MERIT team and a BASICS doctor attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Ambulance crews arrived to find two female pedestrians had been in collision with a car.

“Sadly, despite the best endeavours of medical staff, one female was confirmed dead at the scene.

“A second female involved was treated for serious multiple injuries. The patient was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. A doctor from the MERIT team travelled with the patient.

“The hospital was alerted to the serious condition of the casualty.

“The male car driver was treated for minor injuries and taken to City hospital.”
