Civic Role for Paramedic Adam 2014

Thursday 12th June 2014 – 9.45am – Claire Brown.

A Birmingham paramedic has been named Consort to the Mayor of Dudley.

Adam Aston, based at Aston Ambulance Hub in Birmingham, has worked for West Midlands Ambulance Service for the past ten years and is a Staff Governor at the Trust.

When he’s not saving lives in his day job, Adam is also a Labour Councillor for Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council serving the Upper Gornal and Woodsetton Ward and was named as the new Mayor’s consort on the 5th June.

For the next 12 months, Adam will attend civic engagements and official duties with his mum, Councillor Margaret Aston, who is the borough’s new Mayor and was formerly the Deputy Mayor. Adam was consort to the Deputy Mayor in the previous 12 months.

Adam said: “It’s a real honour and a privilege to be, once more, working in the Mayoral team as it’s a fascinating role. I’m really looking forward to meeting even more people in our communities who make a real difference to the borough.

“West Midlands Ambulance Service has been really supportive in my role as a Councillor and I hope I can serve as an ambassador for the trust in my new role as the Mayor’s Consort.”
