Motorcyclist injured

A motorcyclist has been seriously injured in a road traffic collision in Staffordshire.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the A38 southbound between Burton and Fradley at 2pm today.

A community paramedic in a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic officer in a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance crew and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The motorcyclist, a man in his forties, had come off his bike. He had numerous serious injuries. They include injuries to his chest and abdomen. He had fractured ribs and a fractured leg.

“His limbs were splinted and he was immobilised on a scoop stretcher. The doctor on board the Midlands Air Ambulance anaesthetised him at the scene and maintained his airway. He was flown under alert to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.”
