Cyclist injured in lorry collision

A cyclist has been treated for a serious leg injury after colliding with a lorry in Staffordshire this evening.

An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic area support officer and two BASICS doctors were dispatched to the incident on Rising Brook in Stafford shortly before 5.35pm this evening.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews arrived at the scene to find a cyclist lying on the floor near to a pedestrian crossing, following reports that he had been in collision with a lorry.

“The cyclist, a man in his 30’s, was treated for a serious lower leg fracture. He was immobilised and conveyed to the major trauma centre at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire. A doctor from the scene travelled on board the ambulance with the crew continuing to provide emergency medical treatment whilst en route to hospital.”
