A couple are ‘extremely fortunate’ to have escaped a serious fire at a flat in Tipton late last night.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Tissimore Drive, Tipton at just after 11.30pm (Wednesday).
Two ambulances together with a paramedic officer; the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and the Merit team, which included a doctor, attended the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived on scene to find a property already well ablaze.
“Two people, believed to be in their thirties, had apparently jumped to safety from a third floor window.
“A woman was treated for smoke inhalation and conveyed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
“Medics also treated a man for a fractured leg. He was immobilised with the use of a neck collar, leg splint and placed on an orthopaedic stretcher before being taken to Russells Hall Hospital.”
