A man who reportedly knocked himself unconscious when falling from a quad bike in Burton this afternoon received emergency treatment from paramedics before having to be taken to one of the region’s major trauma centres.
The incident took place in Longcroft Lane, Yoxall, at 3.40pm and West Midlands Ambulance Service sent an ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Staffordshire to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a 61-year-old man who was in a confused and agitated state after falling from his quad bike that reportedly tipped over.
“It is believed he was initially knocked unconscious for approximately five minutes in the incident and following assessment from paramedics he was treated on scene for an isolated head injury.
“He was then transported by land ambulance to University Hospital North Staffordshire, with the air crew travelling with him to continue treatment en-route.
“The nature of the incident meant the man’s injuries could have been much more serious and it is somewhat fortunate that they did not prove to be so.”
