Serious injury road traffic collision in Birmingham

A man has been taken to a major trauma centre after a road traffic collision in Birmingham in the early hours.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the A38 near the O2 Academy at 3.15am today.

A paramedic area support officer in a rapid response vehicle, the MERIT trauma team and an ambulance crew attended.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The driver, a man in his thirties, was trapped and unconscious in the car. He had a serious head injury. He was quickly cut free by the fire service. He was anaesthetised at the scene, fully immobilised and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.”
