A teenage driver has suffered potentially serious injuries after the car she was driving collided with a wall and lamppost.
The crash happened at the junction of Enoch Street and Woodbank Road in the Burslem area of Stoke at about 9.15pm.
An ambulance and a rapid response vehicle were on scene within five minutes and were backed up by a paramedic area support officer and an emergency doctor from the North Staffordshire BASICS scheme.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews found a car that had collided with a wall and lamppost causing significant front end damage. The roads were wet.
The driver, an 18 year old girl, was trapped by her feet. While ambulance staff treated her, firefighters removed the doors from the vehicle to allow access.
“She was immobilised before being taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital with a suspected broken hip, and fractured left wrist.”
