A young boy has been airlifted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital after suffering head, back and shoulder injuries in Tamworth this morning.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Pooley Country Park in Polesworth shortly before 11.30am and sent an ambulance, a community paramedic in a rapid response vehicle and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Staffordshire to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived at the scene to find a nine-year-old boy who had reportedly fallen whilst running down a hill. It is believed he hit his head during the fall, near to a ditch at the bottom of the hill.
“The boy was conscious throughout the incident and following assessment he was treated for a cut to his head as well as shoulder, back and neck pain.
“He was immobilised with the use of a neck collar and spinal board and had pain relief administered before being airlifted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for further treatment.”
