A boy has suffered serious facial injuries after being struck by a vehicle wing mirror in Birmingham this afternoon.
The incident occurred on Olton Boulevard East, Acocks Green at around 4pm. An ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a with serious facial injuries including a suspected fractured Jaw. It is believed the boy was struck by a vehicle wing mirror whilst crossing the road.
“The twelve year old received emergency treatment at the scene by medics, including pain relief. Once the boys condition was stabilised he was transferred by land ambulance to Birmingham Childrens Hospital for further emergency treatment.
“The air ambulance medics travelled with the patient continuing treatment on route.
“The hospital had been pre alerted to the boys arrival and serious injuries.”
The air ambulance landed in a field behind a nearby leisure centre.
