Man injured in major fire in Wolverhampton

A man has been injured following a major fire at industrial premises in Wolverhampton this afternoon.

The fire was reported at premises in Hickman Avenue, Eastfield at around 2.50pm. A rapid response vehicle, an ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Trusts HART team attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews were called to the fire and found a patient that had suffered an ankle injury and also smoke inhalation.

“The man, believed to be in his 30’s, received treatment from medics at the scene before being transferred by land ambulance to New Cross Hospital.

“Four other people had suffered minor smoke inhalation but declined treatment from ambulance staff.

“All the adjacent buildings were evacuated including a local social club.”
