Off road cyclist rescued from Cannock Chase

A cyclist that was enjoying some off-roading this afternoon was rescued by ambulance crews after falling off and suffering serious injuries.

Ambulance crews were called to the Cannock Chase Bike Trail M8, The Monkey Trail, Cannock at around 1.15pm. An ambulance, a community first responder, a paramedic officer and the Trusts HART team attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived and walked to the man who had suffered injuries after falling from his bike.

“The man, believed to be around 50 years old, had suffered a brief loss of consciousness and also a dislocated shoulder.

“He received treatment at the scene by ambulance crews and his condition was stabilised. The man was then taken to a 4×4 ambulance vehicle, which in turn took the patient up to the awaiting ambulance. The ambulance could not access where the patient was on the chase.

“The man was then transferred by ambulance to Stafford Hospital for further treatment.

“The man was out enjoying a ride with his son when the unfortunate incident occurred.”
