Child injured in Telford house fire

A child has been injured in a fire at a house in Telford this morning.

Ambulance crews were called to Green Moors, Lightmoor Village, at around 11.05am. An ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a girl who was out of the house that had suffered serious injuries. It is believe the fire happened in a bedroom.

The girl, believed to be 9 years old, had suffered serious burns to her face, arms, hands and legs.

“She immediately received emergency treatment by medics at the scene and her condition was stabilised.

“Following treatment, the girl was airlifted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for further emergency treatment. The hospital had been pre alerted to the girl’s arrival and her serious injuries.

“No one else was injured in the fire.

“The young girls mum travelled with her in the Air Ambulance to hospital.”
