A teenage cyclist stopped quicker than expected when travelling downhill this afternoon when coming into collision with a car.

The 15-year-old male was airlifted to Hereford County Hospital as a result of the incident which took place on the junction of Sidney Road and Housman Close in Ludlow just after 5.20pm.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The collision left the car with front end damage and happened on a downhill stretch of road.

“The cyclist suffered a suspected right leg fracture and also minor injuries to his face. Whilst being treated by ambulance crews he suffered a sudden drop in his blood pressure, which medics acted quickly upon.

“He was given fluids and immobilised before being airlifted to Hereford County Hospital for further assessment.”

As well as the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham, an ambulance and a community paramedic in a rapid response vehicle attended the scene.
