Lorry down embankment off M5

There were no serious injuries after a crash on the M5 in Worcestershire that saw a lorry leave the motorway and go down an embankment.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the southbound carriageway between junctions 5 and 6 shortly before 9.15am today.

Two rapid response vehicles driven by a paramedic and a paramedic area support officer attended along with two ambulance crews and the Hazardous Area Response team.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The lorry driver, a man in his fifties, was freed from his cab with the help of the fire service. He was checked over at the scene and due to his condition, he was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further assessment.

“A Land Rover was also involved in the collision. Its driver, a man in his fifties, is believed to have suffered a medical episode and was taken to the same hospital for further checks.”
