Crane 1 (30-11-15)

The driver of a mobile crane was injured last night after it rolled over down an embankment in Herefordshire.

The incident occurred on the A417, between the A49 and Bodenham at around 10.10pm.  A rapid response paramedic, an ambulance, a paramedic officer and a BASICS Doctor from the MARS (Mercia Accident Rescue Service) attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “It is believed the crane was travelling down a narrow section of the road and whilst passing a large vehicle that was travelling in the opposite direction, the crane toppled over down a small embankment onto its side.

“The driver of the 55 tonne crane, a man in his 30’s, was out of the vehicle when crews arrived and had suffered a serious injury to one of his ears.

“He received emergency treatment from paramedics and the trauma doctor and was then transferred by ambulance to Hereford County Hospital for further treatment.”
