Double fatality on M6

Thursday 17th December 2015 – 8.30am – Murray MacGregor.

Two men have died after a collision between a van and an HGV on a busy motorway.

The crash on the southbound M6 between Junction 2 at Coventry and Junction 1 at Rugby happened at just before 5.30am on Thursday morning.

An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and a paramedic area support officer were sent to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “When crews arrived they found a van and a lorry that had been in a significant collision.

“Sadly, it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save either man in the van and they were confirmed deceased on scene.

“The lorry driver was checked over by ambulance staff; he was uninjured, but understandably shaken by what had happened.”
