Despite his motorbike and a car door being badly damaged, a motorcyclist has seemingly escaped serious injury.

The collision happened at the junction of Leek Road and Ivy House Road in the Hanley area of Stoke on Trent

After a number of 999 calls at 4.45pm on Friday afternoon, two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic area support officer and a BASICS emergency doctor were sent to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Initial reports suggested that the rider was in a bad way.

“When crews arrived they found that both the driver’s door and the bike had suffered considerable damage.

“Thankfully, a top to toe assessment of the rider, who was in his 20s, could find no obvious injuries, though he was quite shaken.

“As a precaution, he was immobilised using a neck collar and spinal board before being taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further assessment.

The car driver, a man in his 40s was uninjured.”
