Fatal road traffic collision on A38

A woman has died after the car she was in was involved in a collision with a lorry.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the A38 in Rubery shortly before 5.05am today.

Two ambulance crews, a paramedic area support officer in a rapid response vehicle and the MERIT trauma team attended.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The woman was sadly confirmed dead at the scene. A man in his twenties who was in the car with her was initially trapped with numerous serious injuries.

“He was freed from the car and was given advanced treatments at the scene before being taken to the major trauma centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.”
