A motorist has been seriously injured after his car collided with two houses tonight.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Scotia Road in Burslem, Stoke on Trent, shortly before 7pm and sent an ambulance, a rapid response paramedic, two paramedic officers and two BASICS doctors to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews discovered a car that had suffered significant damage after colliding with two houses, before coming to rest on the opposite side of the road.
“The driver of the car, a man believed to be in his 20s, was still inside the vehicle and suffering from a reduced level of consciousness.
“Ambulance staff worked alongside the fire service to free the man from the car on a spinal board, with part of the door having to be cut away.
“The man was continually assessed by crews throughout the extrication before he received emergency treatment for a serious chest injury once out.
“Once his condition had been stabilised he was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital with the hospital having been alerted to his condition prior to arrival.”
