Thursday 24th March 2016 – 5.45pm – Chris Kowalik.

A group of trauma doctors out on a bike ride were immediately on hand to help when they witnessed a crash involving a car and a motorbike.

It happened in Clifford Chambers in Warwickshire. West Midlands Ambulance Service was called shortly after 1.50pm today.

Two rapid response vehicles driven by an advanced community paramedic and a paramedic area support officer attended along with an ambulance crew and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham in Worcestershire.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The injured motorcyclist, a man in his late teens, was being treated by the cyclists, who happened to be trauma doctors. Our crews at the scene said they were brilliant.

“He had numerous limb fractures which were splinted at the scene. He was also given pain relief and immobilised with the use of a spinal board and neck collar. He was then flown to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.”
