A man has died after the van he was in collided with a car and a railway bridge.
It happened at the junction of the A51, Dog Lane and Bent Lane at Stableford in North Staffordshire.
Two ambulances and a paramedic area support officer were sent to the scene after a number of 999 calls at about 7.55pm on Saturday night.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The crash happened where the A51 makes a 90 degree turn to the left to go over the railway bridge.
“The van had collided with the car and the bridge. Unfortunately, when ambulance crews arrived it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save the van driver and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
“The elderly couple in the other car were checked over but were unhurt, if somewhat shaken; they were discharged on scene. There was relatively little damage to their car.”
