Despite the best efforts of bystanders and ambulance staff, a man’s life sadly couldn’t be saved following a road traffic collision this morning.

The incident happened on the A51 Tamedrive in Tamworth and emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 7.00am (Friday). Two ambulances, a responder paramedic, a paramedic area support officer and the Critical Care Car from The Air Ambulance Service with a doctor on board attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “When ambulance staff arrived they found a pedestrian, a man, in cardiac arrest being given CPR by passers-by.

“Ambulance staff continued advanced life support but sadly nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead on scene a short time later.

“The driver of the car, a man, was assessed on scene but was uninjured in the collision and didn’t require hospital treatment.”
