A pedestrian involved in a collision with a car this morning received advanced trauma care by ambulance staff before being alerted to hospital.
The incident happened on Harnall Lane East in Coventry shortly before 8.30am today (Tuesday). An ambulance, a paramedic officer and the critical care car from The Air Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “The pedestrian, a man in his 50s, had reportedly been involved in a collision with a car and was initially knocked unconscious. When ambulance staff arrived he had a reduced level of consciousness and the team worked to carry out a top to toe assessment of the man. They found he had sustained a number of serious injuries which required immediate treatment on scene. Once in a stable condition, the man was immobilised with a spinal board and pelvic splint and taken on blue lights to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further trauma care.”
