A West Midlands Ambulance Service control room dispatcher with a passion for music is set to bring his dreams to reality this week when he releases his first song!
Emergency Medical Dispatcher Aaron Wilkes, from our Tollgate control room in Stafford, has worked for the service for 18 years but has always had a love for music. After a particularly tough 12 months on a personal level, his song titled ‘Stand Together’ is set to be released on Friday 27th September.
Aaron, 38 from Stafford, said: “I’ve written the song, composed the music, played all the instruments and provided all the vocals. I’ve been into music as a passion all my life but I’ve only just found the confidence to do something with it. The song is powerful and uplifting about strength in unity and fighting for a brighter future.”
His passion for help others in his ambulance career is now paving the way in his blossoming musical career.
Aaron continued: “I initially started writing the song as a way of release and escape to help with my own mental health struggles but as the song developed, I am certain it could help and inspire others. Music has been proven to help and stimulate brain function, reduce anxiety and blood pressure, but also improve mental alertness and mood and even if it helps to save a single mind in crisis, it’s achieved its purpose.”
The 999 dispatcher pledges to give 100% of any royalties made to The Midlands Air Ambulance Charity and The Ambulance Staff Charity equally. Just by listening to or streaming his song will contribute to his fundraising. To find out more visit Aaron’s Facebook page here. You can listen to Aaron’s song from Friday 27th September on all available music streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer.
