Our Non- Emergency Patient Transport Service Contracts
As a service we operate six non-emergency patient transport service contracts within the West Midlands and Cheshire to ensure patients get to their hospital appointments. This includes transport to specialist centres around the UK, as well as local hospitals. Services generally include transport for:
- Outpatient appointments
- Renal dialysis
- Cancer treatment
- Discharges / transfers / admissions
Specialist services may include:
- High Dependency
- Bariatric transport
- Mental health
Please note that transport is not provided for non-NHS appointments, nor for visits to GPs, dentists or other healthcare appointments. PTS should be the last option for transport, once all other methods such as, your own transport, public transport, family and friends and taxis have been excluded. Eligibility, which is set by the Commissioner, usually an Integrated Care Service or hospital.
The contracts we provide fall within the following geographical areas. Click on each area to find out more about the PTS contracts we provide as a service and the eligibility criteria for patients:
Am I eligible for transport?
Each contract we provide is specific to the local population served. The eligibility criteria for using our patient transport service is set by the commissioners of each contract we provide, whether that’s a hospital or Integrated Care Service, based on Department of Health guidance.
Patients will be asked to answer a series of questions over the phone by our PTS control room staff when requesting to book transport regarding their general day-to-day life in order to determine eligibility and to ensure the correct vehicle and crew are allocated. In the main, it is based on mobility; financial issues or distance are not reasons for transport.
To find out whether you’re eligible, please click on the geographical areas you require transport within, which are listed above.
