Who We Are And What We Do

The NHS And How We Fit

The former West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust was formed in 2006 and we have consistently been one of the top performing ambulance Trusts in the country. We have been recognised as Ambulance Service of the Year for seven consecutive years.

For further information on the Trust, please refer to our organisation page.

The key national policies which set out the strategic framework within which the Trust works include:

A far-reaching action plan setting out a wide range of measures to put patients and people at the heart of health and social services

Setting national standards and identifying key interventions for a defined service or care group and putting in strategies to support implementation

Agenda for Change applies to all staff within the NHS with the exception of doctors, dentists, and the most senior managers. Details of the Agenda for Change NHS Terms & Conditions Handbook and NHS Job matching/ Job Evaluation Handbook processes can be found on the NHS Employers website.

Organisations With Which We Work In Partnership

Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) are NHS Organisations set up to organise the delivery of NHS services in England. They are clinically led groups that include all of the General Practitioners and other clinicians in their geographical area.

We also correspond with Members of Parliament acting on behalf of their constituency, should they wish to research particular aspects of social or health issues, which would involve West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Local Involvement Networks is a network of community volunteers established by host organisations on behalf of the local authority who engage with the providers of health/community services.
