I’m looking to become a paramedic as a slight change in career. I currently live in Shropshire but cannot find any adverts for a student paramedic VIA the training scheme, can you please point me in the right direction to apply! Thanks

      2. Hi Ellie…
We aren’t currently recruiting for student paramedics, but will do so again, hopefully, later in the year. IN the meantime, it would be worth your while heading to https://wmascareers.uk/ where you will find lots of information about the role.
        Thanks

  2. Hi there, I’m looking in to starting an apprenticeship within the WMAS, however I was just wondering how I go about this due to the fact I got all GCSE grades apart from science at grade D and maths at grade D also, I studied in college a uniform and public service level 3 diploma however due to not reviving my expected grades and only achieving a grade D in maths and science is there any possible way of me still being able to persue my dream career ? I appreciate your help, I look forward to hearing back soon
    Kind regards

    thanks

    1. Hi Stacey. It depends which route you wish to take in order to become a paramedic. If you are looking at joining via our Student Paramedic programme, you do require an A-Level, however it doesn’t necessarily have to be in science. Providing you have five GCSE’s at grade C or above which include English, Maths and Science and at least one A-Level then you can apply! Hope this helps and good luck!

  11. Hi my name is Toni
Being a paramedic has always been my dream job the only thing holding me back is the fact I didn’t pass my English maths and science is there any sort of apprenticeship I can go on in the mean time to pass my English, maths and science and get in rolled with WMAS

    1. Hi Toni…
There are a number of ways you can achieve your goal:
You could complete an access course at college which would gain the appropriate qualification that would allow you to apply.
Another option might be to look for one of the apprenticeships that we run within our non-emergency patient transport service and then compete the necessary learning while also learning on the job with PTS. Our CEO started with PTS, so it’s a good way in.
      Hope that helps.

    1. Hi Demi… we’ve passed your query on to the recruitment team who should contact you with further information.

      Apologies for the delayed response.
We aren’t recruiting via that route currently, and we haven’t been told when it will re-open yet.
The best thing to do would be to keep an eye on our social media as we will definitely highlight when we are next recruiting in that weay.
      Thanks

    1. Hi Chloe…
The simple answer is that we don’t know. Best thing to do is keep an eye on our social media as we will definitely be posting information there when we do re-open for applications.

  17. Hi I am looking for a paramedic apprenticeship as i have always had interest in the field. I have 8 gcses grade 4 to 9 including maths english and science. I have 3 a levels Graded at A* A B. Are you currently recruiting. Thanks

    1. Hi Insa…
      Apologies for the delay responding.
Yes, we will be recruiting to our paramedic apprenticeship, but I haven’t been given any clear understanding of when that will be, but most likely at some point this year.
I’d suggest two things – keep an eye on NHS Jobs and set up an alert; and secondly, have a look at http://www.wmascareers.uk which has lots of helpful information about how you can be prepared for when applications do open.
      Good luck
