A man has died and four other patients were taken to hospital following a three-vehicle RTC in the early hours of Sunday morning.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Small Heath Highway, Birmingham, at 12.46am and sent four ambulances, two paramedic officers, the Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Critical Care Car to the scene. An off-duty paramedic and technician also stopped to offer assistance.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival we discovered six patients, one of whom, a man, was in a critical condition. Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite their best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
“A second man was treated for potentially serious injuries before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.
“Additionally, another three men were treated for injuries not believed to be serious and were taken to Heartlands Hospital.
“A sixth patient was assessed and discharged at the scene.”
