A pedestrian has sadly died in a road traffic collision on the M42 in Solihull last night.
West Midlands Ambulance Service received a call from West Midlands Police reporting a serious collision involving a pedestrian on the southbound carriageway of the M42 between junctions 4 and 3a at 11.09pm last night (Sunday). An ambulance, paramedic officer, a specialist paramedic, a MERIT trauma team and a MARS doctor responded to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “When ambulance staff arrived, they found emergency service colleagues providing basic life support to a male pedestrian in a critical condition after reportedly being involved in a collision with a vehicle.
“The team of ambulance staff quickly commenced advanced life support. Sadly despite everyone’s best efforts nothing could be done to save the man, and he was confirmed deceased on scene a short time later.”

The Trust is commissioned to provide the region’s operational prehospital response to major trauma via our Medical Emergency Response Incident Team (MERIT), a 24/7 regional asset comprising of a prehospital Consultant Doctor and Critical Care Paramedic. Based across Herefordshire, Worcestershire and the Midlands they cover over 2500 square miles of central England, from Birmingham down to Ross-on-Wye and from the Welsh border across to Evesham. They respond to requests for assistance from West Midlands Ambulance Service.
