Nick Henry

Paramedic Practice & Patient Safety Director (non-voting)

Nick started his career in 1990 with West Midlands Ambulance Service on their cadet scheme in Birmingham where he gained experience in each department of the service and having first contact with patients from the age of 16 years.  He went on to qualify as a paramedic in 1995 before becoming a clinical supervisor as well as joining the then County Air Ambulance flying out of their Cosford, Strensham and East Midlands bases.  

Following promotion to a Senior Manager role in 2004, Nick has worked in almost every area of frontline operations across the whole region.  In 2017, Nick moved to a regional post at Trust HQ to lead the Business Intelligence Unit, E-Rostering, Community Response teams and joined the Strategic Commander on-call team as an Assistant Chief Ambulance Officer.   He describes joining the Trust Board as a Director is the pinnacle of his 32-year career and is looking to champion the Trust’s patient safety culture, the role of paramedics through skills and research.  He also led the  implementation of the national Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) within the Trust which ensures continual learning leading to improved patient care and outcomes.
