Procurement

The Trust’s procurement department works to ensure that WMAS makes the best use of its resources by sourcing the best possible value for money on all appropriate non-pay expenditure. The department also aims to ensure compliance with trust standing financial instructions (SFIs) and public procurement regulations, manage supply risk and provide operational support and strategic advice on all purchasing and supply issues.

Tender Opportunities

We use an electronic tendering system called Delta. This means all tenders will only be accepted electronically.

How to put yourself forwards for a tender will be outlined against each tender opportunity listed on the Delta portal, if you are interested in becoming a supplier, in the first instance please register on the portal.

In addition to the Trusts Delta platform, opportunities for both the WMAS and the wider NHS can be found by visiting Find a Tender portal.

Procurement act in an advisory capacity to the Trust on all procurement issues such as current best practice, contractual and legal implications, policy formulation, strategic recommendations and as a point of contact for external stakeholders in procurement.

Suppliers

All suppliers, especially those looking to establish commercial relationships with the Trust, are strongly advised to contact the Procurement department in the first instance either by phone or e-mail, prior to visiting any Trust departments or any locations directly.

We work closely with our clinical and operational colleagues to maximise the value from our supply chain by applying effective strategic sourcing and commercial expertise to all expenditure.

The team is committed to working constructively and collaboratively with our suppliers in developing value adding opportunities and harnessing the potential for our supply chain to support the Trust in delivering better care to our patients and in improving operational performance and efficiency.

Whilst cost reduction activity remains important, our focus is beyond the traditional approaches, and is for the Trust to become the ‘partner of choice’ for key suppliers across the healthcare sector – becoming a key strategic partner for product/service development, research, innovation and working collaboratively to improve healthcare for patients.
