On the day of a booked patient transport service journey, we advise patients to be ready for the transport at least 90 minutes before your appointment time. This ensures there is plenty of time to take into consideration traffic or delays.
Patients should also make sure they have their appointment letter with them along with any medication and food, if necessary. We ask that patients do not bring too many unnecessary belongings with them as the PTS crew may not be able to store them.
Our staff will collect the patient from their home address and will ensure that the patient’s property is secure. The patient will be escorted to the vehicle and seated comfortably by our PTS staff. Some patients will need to travel in their own wheelchair or on a stretcher. In most cases, there will be other patients on the vehicle who are also being taken to an appointment.
On arrival at the healthcare setting where the appointment is, our PTS staff will take the patient to the appointment and hand the patient over to a member of staff at the facility. Once a patient’s appointment has finished, hospital staff will inform our Patient Transport Service team that you are ready to return home. In larger hospitals, the patient will be able to do this directly via an on-site screen. Once our staff arrive, they will take the patient home and ensure that they are safe and sound before leaving.
