We offer apprenticeship roles in many areas of our Trust, including business administration, non-emergency patient transport, fleet mechanics and human resources. Our apprentices work as an integral part of the team they are working in, building real work experience as well as developing their skills and completing a qualification at level 2 to 3.
We also offer our popular student paramedic degree level apprenticeship; for more information on this, please see our ‘student paramedic’ page.
Apprentice Stories
Shaunna:
This is Shaunna – she joined WMAS as an advanced apprentice in the Press Office. During her time with the team, she created an educational campaign called Little Lifesavers which has been viewed around the world. It teaches youngsters about ambulances and the importance of simple first aid. She has also used her creative streak to write poetry used in the Trust’s Christmas campaign and run numerous other educational campaigns. After achieving her Level 4 apprenticeship qualification she gained a job with the Trust as a Communications Assistant and has since been promoted to Communications Officer and is now undertaking a Level 5 CIPR Professional PR qualification.
Chloe:
Meet Chloe! Chloe started with WMAS as a Business Administration apprentice within our Recruitment Team. Throughout her 18 month apprenticeship, Chloe worked with the team, supporting candidates for our student paramedic programme through the application and recruitment processes, including interviewing and fitness assessments, requesting pre-employment checks and issuing contracts. She liked the course so much that Chloe has now moved over to the degree apprenticeship programme, where she will develop clinical skills in a practical environment and complete a full Level 6 degree in paramedic science. Chloe is a great example of the way apprentices can develop their careers within the Service in a wide variety of ways.
